Types of Books Accepted by Ed's Editions
Our inventory depends on on-going acquisition of quality used books or related items. CONDITION is of foremost importance. We will consider singl
e items or entire collections. Our wants are dictated by present needs and budget limits. We prefer First editions but will consider others depending on subject matter or scarcity. Call 791-8002 for an appointment. We will travel to examine sizeable collections.
We are usually interested in books related to the South (South Caroliniana, Americana, Genealogy); History (American, Military, Civil War); Classic Literature, Poetry, Juvenile literature; Philosophy; Theology; Science; Nature, Outdoors (Hunting, Fishing, Camping); Transportation; older travel and Adventure; Art; Architecture, Photography; Quality leather, decorator or unusual books; Vintage Paperbacks; some art, maps, letters or uncommon paper ephemera. Subject matter shoud be specific rather than broad/general topics.
Types of Books Not Accepted by Ed's Editions
Even if books meet our condition requirements, we might not be able to accept them if we are currently overstocked in that particular subject area. We also do not accept damaged, soiled or mildewed books, textbooks not currently in use, encyclopedias or most other sets, Reader's Digest or Condensed books, Book Club Editions, most current best sellers, magazines (except early literary or scholarly).
Compensation for Books
1) STORE CREDIT - usually applies to most acquisition offers and is used to replace common stock in our store. Store credit is valid for one year and may be used for 50% of in store purchases (except consignment items). Store credit cannot be used to pay sales tax.
2) CASH or CHECK - for items that are rare or where there is a standing customer request or if the book(s) are known to be valuable.
3) DONATIONS - we offer to pick up and properly dispose of large collections of books. In exchange for books suitable for our inventory, we assist in the proper disposition of books that do not meet our needs or criteria by donating them to a local charity. The local charity can provide a donation receipt which we will mail to you if requested.
4) CONSIGNMENT - we occasionally consign single items with resale value of over $100 which are placed in our Rare Book Room. Fees range from 30 - 50% of selling price. We will collect and pay state sales tax on these items.
